 As recently announced by Minister of Immigration, Australian up to 190,000 permanent migration places will be available in 2015-16 as part of the Budget on 12 May 2015.

The number of permanent places available will remain the same as last year.

This will includes up to:

§  128,550 places for skilled migrants, including employer sponsored, general skilled and business categories;

§  57,400 places for family migrants sponsored by immediate family members; and

§  565 places for special eligibility migrants, who include former permanent residents who have maintained close business, cultural or personal ties with Australia.

 Additionally, at least 3,485 permanent Child visa places will be available outside the managed Migration Programme. This will clearly show that the Australian Immigration is still very proactive and is seeking moiré and more highly skilled migrants from countries like India and China who have good English skills. Recently the state of South Australia also announce new categories and the base level for English has marginally gone up too showing that IELTS min 6.5 bands will be mandatory for some categories. Also for Engineers and other professional min overall score of 7 bands in each of the modules will be mandatory. So on one aspect the positions will open out more but on the other hand English requirements seem to get tougher and tougher.  Also South Australia announced that if one score 8 bands then they can be straight away nominated for sponsorship through Supplementary list.
